The Book of Job

Job is a warning to the believer of today!

{especially the Word of Faith people}

Traditional Viewpoints

God cursed Job to teach him something; train him, etc.

  • This does not agree with the other 65 books of the Bible.
  • Job’s three friends say that and God rebukes them for it!
  • God did not do that with others.

God gave the devil permission to afflict Job;

He allowed it to happen.

Job’s problem was fear!

Fear was displayed in the sacrifices!

Job 1:1  Uz was in Arabia.

. . so Job was an Arab

Who was Job’s Grandfather?

  • Job’s father was Issachar.
  • Genesis 46:8

    • Job’s grandfather was Israel (Jacob).

Perfect = Mature (not a baby Christian).

Upright = Job was in fellowship with God.

    • Job was a real person.

Job worshiped God and lifted him higher than anything else!

    Except for one thing.

So far we have a very good picture of Job!

    • Mature.
    • In fellowship with God.
    • Following after God.

    Job 1:2-3

    Job is a rich Arab!

    • oil wells - Cadillacs & Mercedes (camels).

Even with all of his wealth, he still follows after God.

    • This is not his problem!

Job is operating in Godly prosperity.

    Job 1:4

For at least 10 weeks out of the year, Job’s kids were partying!

    • They were not following Job’s righteous example.

Because Job was a permissive parent.

    Job 1:5

Every morning!  Job has been charged with:

    • No faith in the sacrifices.

    $500.00 per bull x 10 children = $5,000.00 per day!

    $5,000.00 per day x 365 days per year = $1,825,000.00 per year!

20 years of sacrifices cost Job $36,500,000.00

    • Offering sacrifices out of fear (it is very doubtful)
    • No one offers $5,000.00 per day out of fear!

Job knew that he was the head (Priest) of the home.

      • He had the right to offer sacrifices for his family.
      • the law had not been given at the time Job lived.  Offering one bull for every child was quite acceptable.

Because he knew it would work.

He knew those sacrifices would deliver his children from hell.

Why didn’t Job offer a sacrifice for himself?

      • Job thought he was above evil!

This is the heart of his problem!

      Reading and confessing the Word

If you get into pride, the devil can come and steal everything you have!

Even if you are in pride, your faith will still work and produce. . .
