Be an Overcomer
The Means
John the Baptist was filled with the Spirit from his mothers womb.
The Method
Because of his infilling he had a powerful message.
V. 9 Behold your God!
John was so filled with the Spirit of God that the cry he raised moved
all Israel. This shows that when God gets a hold of a man and fills him
with the Spirit, he can have a message, a proclamation of the Gospel the
will move people. The man who does no t have the Spirit of the Lord may
cry for many years and nobody will take notice of him.
Infilling is Necessary
This should teach us that there is a necessity for everyone of us to be
filled with the Spirit of God.
It is not sufficient just to have a touch or to have usually a little.
There is only one thing that will meet the needs of the people todayto
be immersed in the life of God.
There you will find that all your strength and all your mind, and all your
soul are filled with zeal to proclaim the message of the Gospel
a proclamation
that is accompanied by the power of God.
A Notable Lack
The reason we are not seeing much of this is because Christians are not
filled with the Spirit of Christ. They are satisfied with going to church,
occasionally reading the Bible, and sometimes praying.
If God lays hold on you by the Spirit, you will find that there is an end
to everything in the old life. All that is left of it is to laugh at it.

We are not supposed to spend our lives on ourselves
Jesus Our Example
In studying the life of Jesus, it seems quite a natural thing for him,
after he had served the entire day among the multitudes, to want to go
to his Father to pray all night. Then, when he met sickness, it had to
go because he had been in that place of holy communion with the Father.
In Hebrews 4:9, 10 we are told:
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered
into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from
his.
When we stop doing OUR plan...we are able to take rest in Gods plan.
Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect
by the flesh? Galatians 3:3
