The basic idea is to “spread a liquid over something.”
Anointed For Service
Ruth anointed herself and did God’s will.
Jesus was anointed and did God’s will.

God did not “Un-anoint Saul because he sinned. Once anointed, always anointed.
The Music is Not Anointed
Service is the result of anointing - not the reverse.

No work or action is ever once referred to as being anointed.
Anointing is the result of God’s calling.

The anointing is for glorifying God.
The anointing does not break the yoke of bondage.
Service breaks the yoke of bondage.
Our freedom from sin does not come to us because Jesus was anointed, but
because he served.
Satan is anointed.
Do not be found over generalize or explain things on the basis of a single
proof-text.
The best description of this interpretive error I have discovered is that
of Lewis Sperry Chafer:
“A certain type of mind, however, seems able to construct all its confidence
on an erroneous interpretation of one passage and to be uninfluenced by
the overwhelming body of Scripture which contradicts that interpretation”
(Systematic Theology, vol. 3, p.380).
We Are Anointed to Serve
We have an anointing to serve.
We have an anointing to glorify God.

We need to exercise care in speaking of the anointing on a persons life.
It is best to leave the judgment of anointing to the one who does or does
not give it.
