Some of the reigns overlapped each other—that is, on occasion, both father and son may have ruled at the same time (co-regency). This explains the difference in the total number of years of all the northern kings as given in the Bible (252 years); and the actual time involved, about 208 years (beginning with Jeroboam in 931 B.C., and ending with Hoshea in 721 B.C.).
