Thanks Be To God Our contemporary Thanksgiving Day is an echo of two Old Testament feasts:
Thanks To be grateful; to express gratitude.
Psalm 69:30 Gods Holiness Psalm 30:4 Gods Works Psalm 75:1 Gods Hidden Things Matthew 11:25 Wisdom & Might Daniel 2:23 Salvation Romans 6:17; 7:23-25 Victory 2 Corinthians 2:14 Like praise, which is not always a sacrifice, thanksgiving has its sacrificial aspect.
Here, thanksgiving is seen as the direct object of praise. Thanksgiving becomes sacrificial when we act on two verses of scripture:
...for all things...
...in all things... Appointed to Thanksgiving In the Old Testament, there were certain people who were appointed to the task of giving thanks to God. 1 Chronicles 16:4 These people were undoubtedly able to appropriately act on the principles found in Ephesians 5:20 and 1 Thessalonians 5:18 |
