Our Obvious Relationship “...and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” — Acts 4:13 You have read lives of Christ, beautifully and eloquently written, but the best life of Christ is his living biography, written out in the words and actions of his people. If we were what we claim to be, and what we should be, we would be pictures of Christ. We would be such striking likenesses of him, that the world would not have to say, “Well, it is sort of a likeness.” Having seen and been with us, the world should say, “He has been with Jesus; he has been taught by the holy Man of Nazareth, and he works it out in his life and everyday actions.” Proverbs 28:1 Ephesians 3:11-12 Never be ashamed of own your religion; your faith will never dishonor you. Never disgrace that. Be like Jesus; very valiant for your God. 1 Corinthians 13:4 Think kindly, speak kindly, and do kindly, so men may say of you, “He has been with Jesus.” Like Christ in Zeal And Holiness 2 Corinthians 9:2 Hebrews 12:14 Self-denying Never looking to his own interest? Be the same. 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 Devout Be fervent in your prayers and folks will know, “He has been with Jesus.” Philippians 4:6 1 Timothy 2:8 Patient Learn to endure so people will say, “He has been with Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Forgiving Forgive your enemies, as he did; and let the words of your Master, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do,” always ring in your ears. Forgive, as you hope to be forgiven. Heap coals of fire on the head of your foe by your kindness to him. Good for evil, recollect, is godlike. Be godlike, then; and in all ways and by all means, so live that all may say of you, “He has been with Jesus.” Colossians 3:13 |
