Godly
Prosperity
Contrary to very
popular belief, genuine godly prosperity has very little to do with money (gold).
Money Does Not Help You Prosper
Psalm 105:26-37
Here we clearly see
God at work among all peoples.
The Egyptians did not
trust in God, and Israel did not trust in God beyond a given immediate positive
manifestation of God.
Although Israel was
led forth from Egypt with silver and gold (v. 37), they were not prospering because of it.
Man man or woman who
has monetary wealth, but is constantly driven to get more, or is terrified of loosing it
(or both) can hardly be viewed as prospering.
Wealth And
Prosperity
God gives us both wealth and prosperity. All genuine
prosperity is from God.
Wealth
Deuteronomy 8:18
Ecclesiastes 5:19
Ecclesiastes 6:2
Prosperity
Joshua 1:8
Not All Christians
Are Destined to be Wealthy
John 12:8
The poor are not
around them, near them, by them, or even simply close to them. The poor are
with them.
No Admonition
Against Prosperity...
Scripture never makes
any derogatory statements about prosperity, but the same is not true of wealth.
Dueteronomy 8:10-18
Hosea 4:7
Matthew 6:19-21
Matthew 19:23, 24
Mark 4:19
1 Timothy 6:8-10
Prosperity
Originates in The Mind
Beloved, I wish
above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 John 2
The word prosper (euodoo) appears twice in this verse, and means:
- To help on the road i.e. (pass) succeed in reaching; fig. to
succeed in business affairs.
Here in 3 John, it should be evident that
these people did not have money and were not all healthy (Beloved, I wish...).
However, their
souls/spirits were prospering. They were believers.
A Promise to
Believers
Job 22:23-27 promises
prosperity to believers.
Silver is a type of redemption.
