Confess Faith

The Confession of Your Faith

Christianity has been called the great confession (Hebrews 4:14), but most people live a defeated life because they believe and confess wrong things.

The power of their own words holds them in bondage.

  • Proverbs 6:1, 2; 18:20, 21

A Spiritual Law

Mark 11:22-24 is a spiritual law.

  • It works every time, not just when it will be to your betterment.

God never does anything without first saying it. This is readily observable throughout Scripture.

  • He releases his faith with words.

Spoken Words

Words are the most powerful vehicle in creation.

1. Words are seeds.

  • They will always produce after their kind.

This is the law of Genesis, and is the principle behind seed-time and harvest.

2. Words are containers.

  • They will either carry faith or they will carry fear.

3. Words affect your spirit.

  • Spoken words program your spirit either for success or for failure.

You will plant God’s word in your heart much quicker by hearing yourself say it than you will by hearing others say it.

  • Spoken words snare your belief making it difficult to escape from them.

Whether spoken positively or negatively, you are snared by the words of your mouth. Proverbs 6:2

4. Words paint pictures.

  • The words you speak will create an image in your spirit.

Faith-filled words will cause you to see the answer in your spirit.

Fear-filled words will cause you to see your defeat.

Releasing Our Faith

Faith is released with words. Believing is the first step. Believing marks the acquisition of faith, but speaking out what we believe releases our faith to do that for which we are believing.

  • Learn to make your words work for you.
  • You will have what you say if you believe what you say.

The Spirit Realm

The spirit world is to be controlled by man speaking God’s word.

Learn to release God’s ability in you.

You are what you are today because of the words you spoke yeaterday.

The Words You Speak

The words you speak will do three things with regard to your personal life.

1. Your words locate you.

  • Your words reveal what is inside of you; in your heart.

They will reveal whether you are in fear or faith; forgiveness or unforgiveness; belief or unbelief.

Matthew 12:33

James 3:2

2. Your words fix the landmarks of your life.

  • The words you spoke yesterday make your life what it is today.
  • Jesus said that you can have what you say.

You are today what you said you would be yesterday.

James 3:2-5

3. Your words affect your spirit.

  • James 1:26
  • You have two sets of ears—outer ear and inner ear.

Mark 4:9, 23

  • Whatever seeds you sow in your heart—your heart will produce that fruit.

The Effect of Words

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.  Proverbs 13:2, 3

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.  Proverbs 15:4

A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.  Proverbs 18:20

Words in The Home

The atmosphere of your home is the product of words.

  • Proverbs 16:21-24

Use your words to encourage one another. Use your words to build healthy and positive self-images. Learn to make your words work for you, not against you.

Christian Curses

Mark 11:12-23

To curse simply means, “to call evil upon,” “to speak against,” or “to speak negatively of.”

A Christian can curse by speaking negatively about someone or something.

Very often (too often) Christians curse their homes, their lives, their families, the businesses, etc. Without realizing what they are doing.

Complaining about tough times and how bad things are is an open doorway for Satan to deliver tragedy to your home.

James 3:5-12

Carnal Christians find it easy to speak with a worldly tongue.

It is easy to to be negative and speak negatively because the world is geared and programmed this way.

An unscriptural confession is a confession of death, defeat, and failure. It is a proclamation of the supremacy of Satan.

Such confessions only glorify the work of Satan in your life. They will destroy your faith and keep you in bondage.

With your mouth (not with your heart) you will determine who has control of your life; God or Satan.

Faith Must Speak

There is no such thing as faith without confession.

  • Mark 11:22-24
  • Romans 10:8-10
  • 2 Corinthians 4:13

Start confessing your faith over your fears.

2 Corinthians 10:4, 5

Examine each thought.

If it is not of God, throw it away; proclaim God’s word instead.

Soon you will have far fewer doubts and fears.

Speak the answer, not the problem.

Right And Wrong Thinking

Your confession will liberate you or imprison you.

How were you liberated from a life of sin and spiritual death?

Romans 10:9, 10, 13

The rules for liberation have not changed just because you made a confession of Christ as Savior.

Source of Thoughts

Romans 8:5-7

Thoughts come from one of two sources:

Our flesh

Our spirit

Satan uses the appetites of your flesh.

God speaks to us through our spirit.

Learn to stay in close fellowship with God through prayer, meditation, and the study of God’s word.

Three Confessions

There are three types of confession recognized in Scripture.

1. The confession of a sinner.

  • The sinner is guilty of only one sin—unbelief of Jesus as Savior and Lord. The sinner must confess Jesus as Savior and Lord.

2. The believer’s confession of sins.

  • God forgives us the moment we confess our faults. We are then cleansed from all unrighteousness.

3. The confession of our faith in God’s word.

  • This type of confession embraces the following essentials:

Affirming something we believe.

Testifying to something we know.

Witnessing for a truth that we have embraced.

The biggest problem for most of us is in knowing precisely what we should be confessing.

Our confession should center around five things.

1. What God, in Christ, has done for us in his plan of redemption.

2. What God, through the word and the Holy Ghost, has done for us in the new birth and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.

3. What we are to God.

4. What Jesus is doing for us now, seated at the right hand of the Father.

5. What God can do through us.

Remember

God created the universe with words. Get in the habit of thinking big things.

Learn to use words that will react upon your own spirit.
