Religion does not center on any one part of a man's life. Religion
is man's entire being, reacting in a tangible way to the object of his highest loyalty.
Religion must be both action and thought. Religion must be lived out, translating
reflection upon God into action. Religion is not a section of life, nor is it connected
with a single time, place, or event. Religion is more than mere ritual, ceremonies,
doctrines or churches, even though all these may arouse religious activities. The greatest
religious leaders have noted that religion is a vital, personal experience that grows out
of real human needs for courage and companionship. The prophet Micah said that man's chief
responsibility is, "To love mercy, to do justly, and to walk humbly with God."
For Jesus, the greatest commandments were the love of God and the love of one's neighbor.
No matter how religion is interpreted, it involves the whole of man's life.
