CHAPTER 8 In chronological order, we go from chapter 6 to chapter 8; chapter 7 being a parenthetical insertion. Chapters 8 & 16 are more difficult to teach than any of the other chapters of this book.
God does not accidentally or nonchalantly deliver his judgments, neither does he take pleasure in war, famine, pain, bloodshed, and death. These are deliberate acts of a just God on a sinful and rebellious world. V. 1-5 V. 1
V. 3
The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth. Genesis 48:16
V. 7 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. Joel 1:15-20 It is a fact (though not well documented) that hail falls from atomic clouds. This takes place because enormous amounts of water from the lower atmosphere (as over bodies of water) are carried quickly into the air.
Even if we determine that the judgments of Revelation 8 are originated by man upon himself, it does not negate the Bible as God's inspired word, nor does it decrease God's power to rule over men and nations. And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. Exodus 7:3 G. Hort has posited that the plagues of Egypt were a sequence of unusually severe natural events, exhibiting a cause-and-effect relationship between them (with the exception of the hail) in the exact order in which they are related in scripture.
Grass here also means wheat & crops; i.e. PRODUCE. V. 8-9 V. 10-11 It is very evident from the given description that fallout material falls on fresh water sources.
V. 12 V. 13 |
