REVELATION:

To disclose; to reveal; a manifestation; to uncover; to enlighten.

PROPHECY:

  • Prophecy focuses on the return of Christ.
  • All of the prophets gave witness to Jesus.
  • The Bible is the ONLY guide to prophecy.
  • We are commanded to study prophecy in 2 Timothy 2:15

A. The office of the prophet has a twofold obligation.

  1. To interpret & give the meaning of events.
  2. To confirm.

THE SCOPE OF THIS SERIES

  • To give the individual an overall working knowledge of the book of Revelation, as well as portions of other books of scripture which deal with the material revealed in the book of Revelation.
  • To stimulate interest and questions in the material presented which are conducive to independent study.
  • To acquaint the individual with specific end-time prophecies; both fulfilled and unfulfilled.

CHAPTER 1

V. 1-2
It is obvious in verse one that this is not the revelation of St. John the Divine. This is the revelation of God, given to Jesus.

REASON: To show Jesus' servants what must happen soon.
